Finding a Penny Means a Lot to Me!

I found a penny today, like I do so many days, and I always thank the Lord for this simple gift and pray for Him to multiply it for the furtherance of His Kingdom.

We are told to be faithful in the “small stuff” and God will bless us and give us more ministry opportunities (Luke 10:16). I have certainly seen that to be true in our ministry, WHEEL POWER Christian Cyclists. We have prayed for God to use us to reach the lost for Jesus and have lived by faith, trusting the Lord to prompt the hearts of many people to come along side to pray for us and financially support us. Our prayers have definitely been answered as this year we are celebrating 24 years of ministry and are now “gearing up” for our silver anniversary in 2018. What an amazing, fruitful season it has been, serving the Lord and spreading the Gospel message here in the United States.

Now for the rest of the lost coin story…. Today, as I picked up that penny, the Lord reminded me that on every one of our US coins and bills it says, “In God We Trust”. I think most of us never read those words or even take a minute to really think about how important and meaningful those four words are.

I have to admit that I have not thought about those four words in quite a long time, probably because I have been too busy to pay attention to that little coin. But today I took a few moments to think and ask myself, “Do I really trust in God in every aspect of my life?

As long as I can remember, God has continually dropped coins in front of me, reminding me of that important message to trust Him. Finding lost coins has taught me to recognize how important it is to pray for those who have not placed their trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

When I see a coin on the street, in a store or wherever, I know I should stop to pick it up.  Since my salvation in February 1978, finding lost coins has also taught me to trust God about every detail of my life.  I need to take the time to look at people who are lost and remember that I must first SEE them as human beings, loved and created by God. Then I must STOP and talk with them about Jesus.  And just like the lost coin, if I want to gain possession of the coin, I have to STOOP down and pick it up.  When talking with people, sometimes I have to STOOP down and meet them right where they are and then I can SHARE with them, in love and compassion, the Truth of God’s Word.

In Luke 15, verses 8 to 10, we see that the woman in the story had lost a coin. She was desperately searching for it and did everything she could, lighting the lamp, sweeping the floor, praying and searching. She finally found her lost coin, but before she could rejoice that she had found it, she first had to SEE the lost coin. Next she had to STOP what she was doing, her busyness, and STOOP down to pick it up. After reclaiming her lost coin she could then rejoice and SHARE with her friends the good news!

So I will continue to pick up those lost coins and thank God that I trust in Him for ALL our needs to keep our ministry going for the cause of Christ. What a blessing that I have accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior and that He knows the plan and purpose for my life better than I do.  I realize that He has given me the gift of Evangelism and I understand how important it is for each of us to recognize our gifts and to use them for the furtherance of His Kingdom.

My personal prayer is that I will strive daily to be more like Jesus, more concerned for the lost souls, faithfully and enthusiastically living to love and serve my Lord, every day - in every way - and with every one I meet.

So let me encourage you, my friend, that if you find a penny or any other coin today, tomorrow or next week, please pick it up and realize that maybe you have been worrying and fretting in your mind about things you cannot change.  Read those simple words, “In God We Trust,” and thank the Lord for His message to you. By trusting in Him you can be set free from the burdens in life and then you will be free to GO and BE and DO all that you can for the Lord because of His love and saving Grace.

And please don’t forget those who are lost. I urge you to take time to SEE them, STOP and talk with them, STOOP down to encourage them, but also SHARE with them the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ (John 15:16).

2017 Greeting

1 Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”

We want to thank all of you for your nice Christmas cards, your prayers and your thoughtful donations. Our faith-based ministry could not continue to spread the Gospel message if it were not for the Lord leading, guiding and directing us, and for friends like you who are so faithful to support us. Thank You!!!

Our upcoming Mission trips for 2017 will give us many opportunities to GO and TELL everyone we can about Jesus!!! I am really excited that the Lord has given me the passion, desire, the new ELF bicycle and a body that is physically able to lead more trips across the USA on bicycles. Our Florida trip will give those of us who live in the cold section of the Country an opportunity to head South and enjoy a great ride in the Keys, witnessing and enjoying the Sunshine. This summer we will start our cross-country trip in Seattle and follow much of the same route we did over the years, finishing at Yorktown Beach, Virginia. In the Fall we will ride on both bicycles and motorcycles along the East Coast. More information about the trips, fees and registration will be available by mid-January.

Please pray about riding with us for a day or two, or a week or more, or possibly one of our complete mission trips. We also need drivers and support team members on our trips, so if you would be willing to serve in that capacity please let us know. Of course, we always want to ask everyone to pray for us as we ride and reach the lost for Jesus!!!

Please pray about becoming an active prayer partner and financial supporter of WHEEL POWER in 2017. If you have any questions about how to do that, please email me, Judy Bowman, for more details and a current list of our financial needs. I will also mention that we still need about $800 to finish paying for the new roof at our headquarters.

We really enjoy hearing how God has used our ministry in your lives, either through our salvation stories, our visits to your church or as we have prayed for your requests. So please let us know and also share with us any prayer requests you have for 2017.

With love and wishes for God’s blessings in the New Year!

Judy Bowman
