WHEEL POWER Update 2013

With prayers and plans for 2014

We at WHEEL POWER CHRISTIAN CYCLISTS want to thank all of our faithful prayer and financial support throughout the year. The Lord has blessed and used us in the fulfilling of the Great Commission here in the USA. Below is a summary of the mission endeavors we have been involved with since 1993 with new avenues of ministry and prayers and hope for more opportunities to serve as the New Year approaches.

WHEEL POWER Christian Cyclists celebrates our 20th year of ministry! What a wonderful time of reflection as we look back over these past 20 years, which include 35 mission trips on bicycles throughout the United States, including 12 trips across America and 20 shorter trips on bicycle and three trips across the USA on motorcycles.

Some highlights and blessings of the last 20 years include:

• Praising the Lord for His goodness and mercy toward us and His watch care over us with safety as we traveled ! over a million and a half miles on bicycles

Enjoying freedom we have to share the Gospel message here in the USA

Seeing the Lord use us in the lives of thousands of people who came to know Jesus as their personal Savior

Being available to pray with so many folks who are carrying heavy burdens like the loss of a loved one, ! a serious illness, broken homes and so many other situations

Rejoicing in ALL things and counting our blessings especially for all the new friends He has given us

We look forward to Going where the Lord leads and staying faithful and committed to spreading the Gospel here in the USA for another 20 years or as long as the Lord leads.

TEACHING MINISTRY UPDATE: Throughout 2013, I have been doing more teaching than traveling. Since I enjoy my gift of teaching and know that I have a great subject matter to teach on, the Lord has been using me in churches, at women's retreats, with youth groups and at special conferences. It is my prayer that Christians everywhere will take the GREAT COMMISSION very seriously and GO and TELL others about Jesus, (Matthew 28:19-20; John 15:16-17). Our Country is in desperate need of the Savior and we believe we are called to be His messengers. It is our desire to continue encouraging one another to be faithful Servants and Ambassadors for Jesus Christ as long as we have life and breath and live in a free Country (2 Corinthians 5:20).
Our newly designed t-shirt says it all: GO BE Salt • GO BE Light • GO BE BOLD for Jesus.

NEW BOOK TO BE PUBLISHED SOON: As many of you know, for the last several years I have been writing my autobiography, “The WHEEL MEANING Of Life”, but just have not been able to get that project finished. Well this year, the Lord has helped me finish writing my life story and I will be sharing it in my new Book, CROSS TRAINING. I am excited about how the Lord has led me to write Cross Training and it is comprised of 40 chapters with stories and lessons that teach, encourage and inspire Christians to meet and greet everyone in Jesus’ Name.

MISSION TRIPS: In January of 2013 , my dog, Pedals (now age 14) and I, along with our good Lord, traveled about 2,600 miles from Virginia to Florida on my 3-wheel Honda trike. What an exciting journey of witnessing and being available to talk with people about Jesus everywhere we rode. Other blessings included speaking at a Women's retreat and teaching in several Sunday school classes and church services along the way. The Lord also blessed with safety, good weather and the joy of witnessing to over 25 people and praying with three people who came to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It was a very fruitful and beautiful trip and soon I will be heading south again in February 2014 to do more witnessing, speaking and teaching.

Across America mission trip is scheduled for Spring 2014. Unfortunately, I was not able to take a team on a motorcycle mission trip across America this year and that was very disappointing. The trip was planned and many of the arrangements were made, but the team did not come together and I did not feel led to go alone this year. However, in 2014 we will be traveling from Virginia to San Francisco, then north to Seattle and return east to Virginia, covering about 8,500 miles in 50+ days. Riders are invited to ride a week or more or join us for the whole trip. It should be another great trip of riding and sharing Jesus across the United States. We will be staying in towns throughout the USA for several days and doing both day bicycle rides and motorcycle rides to share Jesus and encourage local riders to join us (on the bike of their choosing) as we ride to reach the lost in their community. If you can’t ride, please pray with us and for us!!

PICKLEBALL: WHEEL POWER’S newest sports outreach ministry & the fastest growing sport in America! Yes, Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced game, that is a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong, using an oversized paddle, a whiffle ball and played on a mini-tennis court. This sport was named after the family dog, Pickles, back in 1965 but has taken several decades to get it off the ground. However, today it is the fastest growing sport in the USA with over 300,000 players, with a large population of players over age 50. For more info and to watch a video clip of the sport, visit

For the last few years I have been praying for a sports-related local ministry in the Lynchburg area. Bicycling programs have not been growing and in my cry to the Lord, He brought Pickleball into my life. I was actually first introduced to the sport in 1980 when I was a Physical Education teacher in California. Now after two years of actively playing the sport, the Lord is using me to teach players how to enjoy this exciting sport here in our area. Aside from introducing Pickleball to our community, teaching and scheduling facilities for players to enjoy, the Lord has also given me a new local ministry with Pickleball.

Since my involvement has grown, and I realize the potential to tell many new friends about Jesus, I re-wrote my personal testimony from my original tract, “Can We Pedal Our Way to Heaven?” to my latest version, "IS THERE LIFE AFTER PICKLEBALL?" This title really fits the sport since most players get very addicted to Pickleball and are thus willing to accept my tract and read it. I you would like me to mail or email you a copy of this tract, please let me know.

The Lord is using me to start a community-wide Church outreach ministry in our region using Pickleball. It has been so exciting, not just teaching folks how to play the game, but more importantly I have also been teaching and training Christian players about how to share their faith. This type of sports program lends itself well to having players invite friends to the church gym to try Pickleball and then the opportunity is there for them to share Jesus. As believers, I am convinced that we need to keep our focus on Jesus, sharing His love and message of salvation to everyone we can reach, so why not while we are doing the things we enjoy? (Heb. 12:1-2).

We are in the process right now of developing church Pickleball leagues here in our area and I hope to see this grow throughout the Country. My prayer and desire is to re-visit churches and communities where our teams have bicycled and visited over the last 20 years. I hope to share this new Pickleball ministry idea and help them start a church program reaching out to their community, if they are interested. Please let me know if you would like me to come to your church with this sports ministry: Heed the call - Play Pickleball.

Currently, Going Bold with Dr. Judy, my radio ministry of sharing salvation stories over the air waves, is still very active and alive. My voice is still being heard in several Countries in Africa and I give God all the praise and Glory for how He is using me and my ministry to reach the lost around the World.

DISC GOLF: Steve Bowman, has been playing disc golf since he was about nine years old when we lived in California. The Lord has used him, and this sport, in a new way in our community as well. Steve has been designing and constructing courses at Liberty University, Bedford County, as well as serving as a resource consultant for otherarea courses such as Peakview Park, Farmville and Appomattox. Steve is also the Disc Golf coach at Liberty University, which is a part time position for this club sport. We are now praying about how the Lord might use Disc Golf as another sports outreach ministry through WHEEL POWER. Steve’s personal testimony, as the son of a single mom since he was three yrs. old and coming to know Jesus at age nine, to a cross Country move when he was 15, are all recorded in another tract we self-publish, “Can You Go the Disc-tance?”
Steve has worked full time with me and our ministry, WHEEL POWER Christian Cyclists, since 1999. He has been married to Heather since 1993 and we’re all blessed with their boys Andrew (13) and Cole (8).

If you would like to know more about how to share your faith, you can purchase our new WITNESSING SURVIVAL KIT. Included in it are over a dozen tracts, Good News witnessing cards, 3 Gospels of John, one New Testament, a hand-made wooden cross to wear around your neck and a copy of my Bible study book on witnessing, UNTIL The Road Ends. My Book comes complete with study notes and is a great tool for personal devotions, small group studies and/or Sunday school classes. Many churches and Pastors have used this book in their Sunday morning and evening services and at retreats and special events.

In conclusion, our encourage to all our friends and supporters is to faithfully pray for our Country and to also reach out and share Jesus with someone every opportunity you can. We believe we are called to be Christ's Ambassadors, (2 Corinthians 5:20), and to us that means we are to represent Jesus Christ every where we go and with every one we meet. Personally, I know how difficult and challenging it can be to strike up a conversation with neighbors, co-workers and strangers in the grocery store. But I believe, as Christians, we must learn how to share our faith (plant the seeds), mainly because we are commanded in the Scriptures to love our neighbor as well as GO and tell them about Jesus. However, I have found in my 20 years of being a missionary and evangelist here in the USA, that most Christians do not know how to share their faith. I have also recognized that most non-believers don't know where to find answers to their spiritual concerns, let alone the real meaning and purpose for their life. So let’s step up to the plate, pray for one another and then GO and BE Bold for Jesus!

We can't thank folks enough for all their support in prayer and for their financial support as the Lord provides. We love and appreciate our supporters so much and we thank the Lord for the partnership we share in spreading the Gospel message here in the USA and around the World!!!

WHEEL POWER'S 20th Anniversary

Greetings my friends!  Our 20th anniversary reunion weekend, June 20, 2013, was a very special and wonderful event!  The Lord blessed us with great weather and many friends of WHEEL POWER gathered in Lynchburg to ride or come along and be part of celebrating 20 amazing years of ministry.

We had a dozen cyclists pedaling on our local bicycle trails, greeting people with,
"Jesus loves you or God bless you" and giving out tracts. Our evening fellowship meal and time together was enjoyed by a couple dozen friends of WHEEL POWER and we all had a delicious meal and an evening filled with the sharing of memories and blessings.
I thank each of you who attended and encouraged both Steve and me to keep pressing on, it was great to enjoy the sweet fellowship!!  We know many of you wanted to come but circumstances didn't allow it to happen. Hopefully I will see you on my next mission trip and we'll have our own celebration.  It is just amazing to reflect and remember how the Lord has used all of us and our ministry for these marvelous 20 years of riding and reaching the lost with the message of love and salvation through Jesus Christ right here in the USA. We pray and trust He'll continue to use us as we faithfully pursue spreading the Gospel in the next 20 years.
We want to say "thank you" to all of you who pray for us, support us financially and are friends of our ministry. Together we are making a difference and it has been such an encouragement to receive your phone calls, emails, Facebook messages, letters, cards and gifts in the mail in remembrance of our 20 years. What a blessing to have so many friends and partners in our ministry!
Please remember I am available to come speak and teach on "How to talk to anyone, anytime, anyplace about Jesus" in one of your Sunday school classes, Bible study groups, church services, women's retreats or a special event. And as I continue to ride across our great Country spreading the Good News, I hope to be able to see many of you or have you join me along the way.  But whether we ride together or not, let's all be obedient and faithful to the Lord's command (Matthew 5:13-16) to GOBE Salt, GOBE Light and GOBE Bold witnesses for Jesus!

My next mission trip across America will be starting in Lynchburg, VA on August 24, 2013.  I will be riding to Seattle, San Francisco and returning back to Lynchburg on Oct. 20 covering some 8,400 miles.  I will be on my Honda Goldwing trike, with my faithful companion, Pedals. I am praying for others to ride with me, whether it be for a day, week, month or the whole trip. Please pray about joining me for our "USA 3:16 GOBE TOUR"

If you would like to help support me on this trip, it takes about $25 to fill up my tank. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and for every donation of at least $50 I will send you one of our new witnessing shirts: the shirts are Gildan Dry blend quality t-shirt printed from our good friends at Big Fish Screenprinting in Springfield, Missouri.

Thank you all again and I look forward to seeing you, hearing from you, praying for you and GOING OUT across America once again to meet and greet people in Jesus' names.

God bless you!

A Simple Message

A Simple Message for our Country:

Jesus Christ came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10)

Special Thanks to God for:

- Providing safety on my 7,200-mile mission trip

- Allowing me to share the Gospel message with over 300 people

- Using me to pray with twelve people whose hearts were prepared and ready to receive Jesus' free gift of salvation. Also using me to encourage and pray with many believers.

- Blessing me with so many wonderful friends who welcomed me into their homes and/or assisted in helping me and my little dog, Pedals, have a wonderful place to stay each evening. Plus the provisions of food and financial gifts to keep me going!

- Blessing me with prayer partners all over our Country and around the World who lifted me up faithfully.  This was definitely not a solo trip; the Lord was always with me and through your prayers I know many of you traveled with me also.

- Giving me a wonderful time with my two sisters in California and one brother-in-law.  I love them all and realized how much I miss them. We definitely live too far apart.

- Teaching me so much about myself, my life purpose, and how to stay focused on what really matters in life.

- Showing me how to be more sensitive and caring for the lost and to take time to talk with people. I have found that most folks are searching for the Truth and just need to know someone cares.

Thank you again for your love, support and encouragement.  May the Lord bless you all the days of your life!

Judy Bowman

Mountain Mission Trip

The Mountain Mission trip ended with shouts of praise to our most high and holy God!!! We thank Him for His love and mercy, His protection and His divine appointments. We are also so thankful for the safety He provided, His abundance with daily provisions, and the many opportunities He gave us to serve and minister to others all across the USA. It was a joy to see so many good friends, enjoy the fellowship with our church families and to have Juliana and Richard be part of the team. We traveled over 4,500 miles, ministered in 13 States and shared Jesus with many folks we met at Mount Rushmore, at gas stations, city parks, restaurants, and just about everywhere. I was also blessed in being able to speak in many churches, play the guitar and minister in a Christian retirement community, share with several youth groups, and be the guest speaker at a women’s retreat. The blessings are too numerous to mention for we know that as we went we were supported by your prayers, and so we thank you for making this journey with us.

Along our journey the Lord used us to witness to many people about the Truth of God's Word and the free gift of salvation available to all who believe and place their faith and trust in Jesus. Among the many folks we spoke to about Jesus, there were several who were ready to believe and receive salvation: two high school students, a mechanic, a business woman, and a hostess. In each situation the Lord had prepared the heart of the listener and as I shared the Truth, the Lord blessed, and each new believer sought forgiveness for their sins and a new life in Christ. We were also able to connect each person with a local church so they could start their life with Jesus, studying His Word and growing in His grace and knowledge.

This Fall and Winter I will continue to record testimony stories for the Lord’s radio ministry through me in Uganda. Since Feb 2011 over 1200 people have come to know Jesus through this outreach program. I will also be faithfully writing in hopes of completing my autobiography, The WHEEL Meaning of Life, by Spring.

To God be the Glory great things He has done! Judy Bowman

Radio Ministry Update:

Since January 2011, I have been recording audio testimony stories, sharing about the people the Lord has allowed me to witness to and pray with for salvation over my last 20 years of ministry. The stories are currently being aired on local radio stations in Uganda. The Lord is blessing as many people are hearing these messages, receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior and getting connected with local churches for discipleship and growth.

A new audio CD has just been released (pictured left) with 12 testimony stories. If you would like to receive this CD and help support our ministry, we ask for a $20.00 donation and we will mail a CD to you (see details below). Our prayer is that these true stories will bless you and encourage you to tell others about Jesus. You may also be inspired to share these stories in your church, with your Bible study group, or in a Sunday school class, however the Lord leads. It is my prayer and desire that these stories will be aired on Christian radio stations here in the United States one day soon. Please pray with me as we move toward this goal.

New River Trail Mission Trip

“I Live for Jesus and Ride to GO & TELL others who He is.” Judy Bowman.

Wonderful mission trip with several witnessing opportunities along the New River Trail in Southern Virginia.  Lots of smiles and miles pedaling.

2011: A Gift from Heaven!

Life is like Riding a Bicycle… keep balanced you must keep moving. (Albert Einstein)

Whether you ride a bicycle, a motorcycle, or neither, as Christians it is important that we keep moving forward, pressing on, and staying focused on the Lord Jesus and His calling in our lives.  As the Apostle Paul writes in the book to the Philippines, chapter 3:13b-14:  “… I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”

With great anticipation, we at WHEEL POWER Christian Cyclists enter the New Year with peace, purpose, and promise.  Our goal and prayer is always to spread the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and His gift of salvation to everyone we meet, know, and love.  It is also our desire to teach, train, and equip Christians to be able to do the same, knowing that the Lord commands us to GO and TELL and be His Ambassadors, spreading the Truth to everyone (2 Corinthians 5:20, John 16:15).

It is my personal desire to continue PRESSING ON, sharing the message of hope with people I meet everywhere in the USA, just as I have since the day of my Salvation in February 1978. This year I am praying and preparing to be used by the Lord in the following ways:

My new radio program, GOING BOLD with Dr. Judy, is making progress and should begin within the next few months.  The program is being hosted by Calvary Chapel’s radio station, Equip FM here in Lynchburg, Virginia.  It will also be available on our WHEEL POWER web site as an audio podcast, so you can listen to the testimony stories and teaching lesson right where you live. We will keep you posted as to when this program will begin.

The WHEEL Meaning of Life, my autobiography, is still very much in my heart and prayers and, Lord willing, this may be the year of its publication!!!  We made great progress last year but there is still much to do.  My writer is volunteering her time and talent, and with these tough economic times we’re pressing on at the Lord’s pace.  Please continue to pray with us for God’s timing and for financial provisions.

Mission Trips 2011: We will be offering 1, 2, or 3-day bicycle and motorcycle mission trips this year primarily here on the East Coast.  Details of all trips, with dates and locations, will be posted on our web site within the next few days.  I will also be doing local rides when I am in towns all across the Country. Please check my travel schedule if you would like to meet and ride with me as I go out to share Jesus.  That too will be posted in the next few weeks.

PREPARE TO SHARE: I have been teaching Christians for years on how to share their faith, as I discuss the six main reasons why most Christians don’t talk to people about Jesus.  Recently, the Lord has prompted me to offer hands-on-training workshops and provide materials to “Equip the Saints” to be ready to share their faith.  These workshops can be held at your church or retreat center, your home or wherever is convenient and they can be designed to meet your needs.

If you would like more information on the Prepare to Share Workshops and have me come to your church, Sunday school class, high school or college class, or Bible study group, please contact me soon to schedule: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  I am also available for Woman’s retreats and I conducted several last year on “Living a godly Life”.  Recently I led a woman’s Prayer retreat and am available anyway the Lord leads.

Would you please pray for me and our ministry and consider joining our $10.00 a month support group? Your tax-deductible gift will help keep us spreading the Gospel message right here at “HOME” in the good ole’ USA.  Or maybe you can help with a one-time gift to help us with one or more of the following needs:

Our immediate financial needs:
•  Tracts for the year:  $700
•  GOOD NEWS Witnessing cards:  $360.00
•  Re-print of UNTIL The Road Ends:  $650
•  Monthly living expenses: $800
•  WHEEL Meaning of Life Book (self-published fees):  $5,000

Once again I wish you all of the Lord’s blessings in 2011 and I want to encourage you with these Scripture verses:  “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”  1Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)

May God bless you every day of this New Year. I pray that you will strive, as I do daily, to be like Jesus in all that you say and do so that we may grow in His grace and knowledge and be effective witnesses for Him.

Thank you so much! Love in Christ,  Judy Bowman
